“Neither Here Nor There” by Lisa Kairos, 2011
36″ x 36″, encaustic, oil, paper, aluminum, metal flake
Notes: While I was painting this, a good friend of mine died. This painting was clearly influenced by the sense of suspension and spaciness that often accompanies grief. It had a distinct influence on subsequent paintings, and led me to explore the temporal qualities of landscape and perception.

I’m sorry for your loss. This painting is stunning. I am struck by such a sense of weightlessness combined with sadness, yet also hope. Thank you.
